Two tones. One uncertain presence.
NEW CASTING CONCEPT / IN DEVELOPMENT
A compact, uneven presence sits between a remembered creature and a gesture made solid. Charcoal and pale mineral grey meet along an irregular boundary, allowing weight and vulnerability to occupy the same small body.

Digital concept, not a photograph of a completed sculpture. The two-tone casting method, pigment behaviour, dimensions and mold design require physical testing.
READING THE WORK
What a small
body can hold.
Layered Memory does not settle into a recognisable figure. A head-like mass, a folded side and uneven feet briefly suggest a presence, then return to the independence of volumes. The silhouette preserves the hesitant confidence of a childhood scribble: a form can be persuasive without becoming anatomically correct or perfectly balanced.
The two tones propose different densities of memory within one body. A pale passage interrupts charcoal grey rather than dividing the work into clean, separate components. The boundary becomes a place of encounter, where one apparent history enters another. Shallow marks suggest attention, handling and repetition without inventing a story of actual age or damage.
This material intention is being developed as a small casting study. The ambition is to bring the contrast into the mineral body itself rather than treat colour as an applied graphic. Whether that intention can be realised consistently depends on pigment, mixture, casting sequence and mold trials. For now, the image holds the question open.
